File it under "Anything for our Kids"...

6:00 a.m. rink times in Plymouth, hours of squeaking clarinets and blaring trumpets, thousands of flashcards, endless parent nights, and a few late night ice cream runs to soothe tearful break-ups.

No one told us what hard labor parenting is...but we'd do it all over again and more.

That in mind, here are a list of stellar resources that make it more rewarding, more joyful, and more successful.  Wherever their path takes them.

You've nurtured them, coaxed them, cheered for them, and joyfully teared up at graduation.  Now what can you do to get your college grad off your couch best prepared for today's cutthroat job market?

Hire EDB Consulting.  They're experts at personalized resume writing,  job search planning, and interview coaching.  Sure, Ed Boylan has 37 years of  HR and recruiting experience, but the real secret is his intensive, personalized focus. He'll help your grad:
- uncover their real potential and create an A+ resume.
- sell their work history  {summer jobs and all} to market themselves successfully.
- teach them how to harness the job-search powerhouse: networking.
In no time they'll be happily on their way to a rewarding career….and out of your refrigerator.

Betty Tip:  He's not just for your college grad, EDB consults with people Mid-Career and Senior Level who are creating the next step in their careers.

In her practice as a psychologist specializing in mind-body health, Tara Cousineau {Ph.D} saw an increasing number of girls struggling with body image, self esteem, and stress management.

In their media-driven, fast food, virtual world, teens get less and less physical activity and more inaccurate {and disturbing} messages about beauty, fitness, nutrition, and health. No wonder 70- 80 percent of them are dissatisfied with their bodies.

Not one to wait and watch, Tara launched, a social web site for teenage girls created in collaboration with teens and health experts. With music, quizzes, games, and articles written by both teenagers and health experts it's a way for girls to connect, learn {outside of our perfection obsessed media} and have fun at the same time.  We're all in this together Betty.

When the foundation skills that make high level math, reading or writing are not strong, academic performances will suffer. For example, when your kids aren't fluent readers everything seems to suffer {including self esteem}. At the Factory, they've been transforming kids into accomplished readers for 9 years.  Read their strategy for success "Precision Teaching" here>

Reading isn't all. The Factory works with college bound students in composition and test taking skills, and has had immense success in preparing students for the ISEE and the SSAT. Teaching your child to be an organized, fluent and expressive writer is part of their mission too.  Their summer essay competition is an annual challenge for writers of every age to be recognized {and win prizes too!} Go here> for information.

So you see, it's more than tutoring, it's community building.  A resource that's been contributing to Hingham's educational excellence for years.

At Mathnasium, they take time to identify each student's learning style, interests and areas of success, and relate math to them personally.

A mother/ daughter team, Susan and Casey own the South Shore branch of the international franchise, centered around a multi-sensory  Socratic method; presenting students with questions that lead them to either breakdown a concept into solvable parts, or build up knowledge to solve it.

Students bring in schoolwork and gain guidance on how to successfully complete it, in addition to the custom curriculum  built for each student.  Every instructor is certified in the Mathnasium Method, and must have a diverse set of life experiences to be part of their A+ team.

For students age 4 through College level Calculus, Mathnasium helps your child develop lifelong problem solving skills.

Betty Tip:  They also offer test prep for the: SAT, ISEE, MCAS, MTEL and ACT.
