All Around the Table

There is nothing better than sitting down to a beautiful table with friends and family to share a meal.  Simple or spectacular, it doesn't matter- it's shared love and laughter that matters.

But if the food is delicious, now we're talking...

ALICIA'S TABLE

We discovered the napkins, table runners, and tablecloths from Alicia's table at the Derby Fair this fall and we have to say, we fell in love.  The patterns, the fabrics, the style....there were enough "must have" pieces there to make us want to throw dinner parties for a month straight.

They are all  limited editions, very exclusive.  Alicia might find a great fabric in a smaller quantity and make only a few pieces or you can choose a fabric and style and have a piece custom made.  Let's just put it this way, you can completely muff the dinner,  but your table will look fabulous!

Betty Tip:  To give even more "snap" to your table go to Paperscapes for some charming placecards for your place settings.

KT Kelly Kate Shop1

KATES TABLE

Blonde Betty is a picky eater. Nothing moves her off her usual: a plain turkey on white bread with nothing {I'm not joking, not even mayo.}  So when she raved about Kate's Table, extolling the virtues of roast beef with caramelized onions, I sat up and listened.

Kate's Table is owned by local sisters - local sisters with serious chops in the food and event biz.  Chef Kate worked in the kitchens of star restauranteurs Barbara Lynch and Michael Shannon,  Kelly was an event planner on Nantucket {hello, swank party central} and honed her eye for fabulous by working at Martha Stewart Weddings.

Their retail space is in the new Joseph's Hardware complex.  It's open and light, in the California-style with a few tables and a tempting take out selection.  Choose from what's fresh that day for lunch, pick up a little something for dinner.  See their tasty, intriguing menu here at KatesTable.com.

Or, if you've an event in mind, take a peek at their extensive menu pairings for cocktail parties, brunches, showers and weddings.  I can't think of anything better than a Kate's Table fritatta and Harvest Salad brunch, served outside on a crisp fall day {cue Martha Stewart photo of slender, happy people in corduroy.}

Sigh.  It's good to live here in Charmingville USA

WEINBERGS BAKERY

Go, get a lobster tail pastry {people come from all over for one of these}, an almond macaroon, or a mountain cookie.  It's  is a little bit of mid-town Manhattan right there in Hull and it's well worth the trip { 13 minutes from the rotary, thank you.}

Take the kids, walk on the beach, lobster tail in hand, and you'll realize how much the little things can make you happy.  Take that Cake Boss.

EDIBLE SOUTH SHORE

Betty has been an Edible" fan since she picked up her first copy.  Gorgeous photography, terrific articles, and a great resource for localvore restaurants, organic farms, and  local producers.

It's been a great way to research day trips to vineyards, farms and restaurants on the Cape, VT, RI,  and even further afield.  {The Edibles are all across the country}.
