Yes, its expensive considering they are only 4 years old but it’s the best time to get them enrolled as it’s a small school and spaces fill up quickly. Dolly's Nursery School
My biggest regret when researching preschools years ago was turning around before I got all the way down the street to Dolly's. The neighborhood is out of the way, but the heart and soul of Dolly's, Mr. Kevin, is worth the trek. Kevin Battista, a.k.a. Mr. Kevin runs the school from his home, along with several long-time teachers. There is a strong PTO, great summer programs and there is a wonderful rapport between parents, children and staff. As they say in the real estate world, "not a drive by".

Hingham Nursery School
My children went to Hingham Nursery School before if moved to it's brand new "little red schoolhouse" building. A warm, traditional environment with small classes that focus on independence, exploration and process to develop social and learning skills. Reading corners for quiet time, a self-regulated snack table, applesauce making and pajama day. Quintessential pre-school with caring and smart teachers and a dedicated director. Ok, so I am biased, can you tell?

Hingham Public School Integrated Preschool
Available through the public school system for ages 3-5, this integrated program is a well-planned dynamic of peer role model students and children with disabilities. Children learn respect for others, empathy and responsibility in a productive school environment. Wonderfully thought of by families that have attended. It’s a program that has become more and more popular over the years. Located at the new East School.

Old Colony Montessori School
The Monetessori philosophy is unique (peace tables to mediate behaviors and individualized free play). There is a dedicated following to this tuition based school and a definite aura about the place. If you don’t know anything about the Montessori Schools call, visit, ask questions and meet a parent that can talk to you about the school, there are a lot of great things to learn about it.

Pre-School Playmates
Weary dads with thermoses of coffee, their cars idling outside the entrance to the school, the time...4:30am. This is what it will take to get a good lottery number for your child's chance to be admitted to Pre-School Playmates. Full day runs from 7am-5:30 for those working parents. Other programs cater specifically to your needs (aka, moms free time to play tennis or in my case clean the house) Your child will be in a well run, traditional program preschool.

A popular choice for children who thrive in an arts based, creative environment blended nicely with a traditional preschool program with an emphasis on music, art and imagination. This place just oozes creativity. Located in the heart of the residential neighborhood Conservatory Park, it feels like a private school campus but the tuition is a fraction of the cost.

Wilder Memorial
Wilder Memorial Pre-school is another one of the quintessential pre-schools that has been a fixture in Hingham for many many years. A traditional program, housed in one of Hingham's historic buildings on Main St., is rich in history. It was the first cooperative school in the U.S. and there still is a substantial amount of parental involvement. Great for parents that want to be fully involved and participate in activities and events at the school. Although sometimes it’s a challenge to give up that free time for ourselves, the kids love it and it builds a strong school community. There are often generations of Wilder graduates in one family. The yearly school party "Wilder Fair" draws current students and alumni alike.
