Hingham Road Races

by Darcy Woodyatt

The Hingham Turkey Trot

The Turkey Trot is a 5K race run that has been a Thanksgiving morning tradition for more than 10 years. The race begins at Hingham High School then winds through the walking trails of Wompatuck State Park ending on the track at the high school. The race benefits the Cross-Country and Track & Field programs at Hingham High School as well as local food pantries with donations of canned food collected on race day. The early morning race is a family affair and a great way to start a holiday weekend. Visit for registration information.

The 4th of July Road Race

The Hingham 4th of July Road Race is as much a tradition in Hingham as fireworks, the annual parade and barbeques. The 4.6 mile course begins with the Pledge of Allegiance at the Hingham Middle School then winds down historic Main Street ending under a giant American flag in Hingham Square. The early morning race draws many spectators along Main Street who hand out water, cheer on the runners and play patriotic music. This is an event for the entire family as runners always include adults and children alike. Proceeds from the race benefit the Hingham Recreation Department programs. Visit for registration information.
